One of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history shockingly announced his retirement on Tuesday afternoon.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive linemen Lane Johnson announced his immediate retirement on Tuesday. Johnson was a surprising late add to the inactive list ahead of Week 4, with "personal reasons" cited.
Now, just two days later, a legendary 14-year career has abruptly come to an end. In his retirement letter to the fans, Johnson cited his mental health as a major factor in his retirement.
"Right now, it is critical that I focus on my mental health. I owe it to my teammates, coaches, the organization and the fans to have my head and heart 100 percent in the game."
Johnson was a two-time Super Bowl Champion and made the Pro Bowl six times in his career.

The loss of one of the top linemen in the history of the NFL could be a huge blow to an already struggling offense. Philadelphia ranks 29th in yards per game, just ahead of the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans, two of the worst teams in the NFL.
The Eagles will need to quickly adjust to life without their top offensive lineman, as they prepare to head overseas for a Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
