Eagles LB Devin White provides uplifting injury update
Jeremy Reper-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Devin White at the start of NFL free agency, adding some much-needed veteran help to their linebacker room.

After officially inking his new one-year deal worth up to $7.5 million, White spoke to Philly reporters for the first time.

White was asked how he's better or different now than his All-Pro 2020 season.

"I'm 100% healthy," White said. "I think that's where it starts at. Just getting healthy and I think mentally, in those time I went through a lot on and off the field. And I think I'm just back in great mental standing. And it's just ball, ball, ball I don't think there's a lot of other distractions going on. ... Right now it's just ball. So I think mentally, I'm in a fresh start position. Like when I came in the NFL I had no expectations I just want to play ball, have fun, and win games. I think that I'm really just so much back into that mindset."

White injured his foot against the Eagles in Week 3 of the 2023 season, which lingered for the rest of the year. He was limited to 14 games as he logged a career-low 83 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and nine quarterback hits.

He was also seemingly frustrated that he and the Bucs couldn't agree on a long-term deal.

But after spending his first five NFL seasons in Tampa, White will get a clean slate in Philly. He's certain that all of the negativity is out the door and he's ready to prove that he is still great.

"I've been in the league five years and I did a lot of great things," he said. "But none of that matters right now. So right now I've got a clean start. Zero tackles, zero sacks, zero picks, zero wins and now I'm trying to go earn it all again."
