Eagles make brutal NFL history in Week 14 loss to Cowboys

While the Philadelphia Eagles were looking to take a big step toward potentially slamming the door shut on the NFC East title, newly-minted MVP favorite and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had other plans. The Cowboys took care of business at home, winning 33-13 and evening up their season record with the Eagles, as both now sit at 10-3 on the year.

The loss marked the second consecutive for Philadelphia and interestingly resulted in the Eagles finding themselves on the wrong side of history. As OptaStats highlighted, the Eagles became the first team in history to have 10-plus wins with no more than one loss and then proceed to lose back-to-back games by 20-plus points.

It's a wildly random and unique stat, but for what it's worth, the setup here for the Eagles couldn't have been much worse. First up was a matchup with the surging San Francisco 49ers, followed by a game the Cowboys desperately needed to win for their NFC East title hopes. It's hard to put too much stock into being concerned over it, but the stat remains a strangely interesting one.
