Eagles Make Major DeVonta Smith Announcement

The Philadelphia Eagles face the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs for a chance to play the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship.

This is a rematch after the two teams last faced off in Week 12 when the Eagles won 37-20, which could explain why ESPN BET favored the Eagles by 7.5 points.

The game has been slow, as Philadelphia held just a 13-10 lead going into halftime, but the team did have one major announcement to make surrounding star wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

At the end of the second quarter, he may have only recorded two receptions for seven yards, but it was enough for him to become the Eagles' all-time leader in playoff receiving yards.

It helped him hit 466 yards, beating the previous record holder, Harold Carmichael, who held it at 465 yards.

The Eagles announced the news on X, with a graphic of Smith saying, "In the record books @DeVontaSmith_6 is now your Eagles All-Time Post Season Receiving Yards Leader!"

It's a big accomplishment and is the exact kind of production that the Eagle likely expected from Smith when they selected him at No. 10 in the 2021 NFL Draft.

He's also coming off a solid regular season, in which he appeared in 13 games and accumulated 68 receptions, 833 yards, and eight touchdowns.

If the Eagles can come out on top over the Rams, then Smith could have up to two more games to further his record before their season is over.
