Week One of the NFL season was one of the wildest we’ve ever seen, with crazy comebacks, weather delays and contentious player feuds.
The most controversial thing that happened was during the opening game of the season between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, when Eagles defender Jalen Carter spit on quarterback Dak Prescott.
Video surfaced after the game of Prescott spitting in Carter’s direction first, cleverly baiting the defensive tackle into a heated decision, which he has been known to make during his short career.
The former Georgia Bulldogs star was ejected from the game before a down from scrimmage had been played, which was counted as a suspension for his actions.
He isn’t expected to be severely disciplined by the team, but Carter has been known for his temper, with various boneheaded personal foul penalties over his three years in the league.
In light of this situation, Philadelphia signed a new defensive tackle to their practice squad, cutting another who they’d signed just a day earlier.

This move doesn’t mean much in the short term, but with the team’s loss of depth at the position in the offseason and Carter’s temper, they brought in some insurance.
The Eagles lost Milton Williams to free agency and if their All-Pro defender has to miss any time this season, they need someone to fill in.
Gabe Hall was an incredible disrupter at the collegiate level and Philadelphia is hoping he can provide the same impact in the pros. They’ve invested heavily in tackles over the last few years and had tremendous success, which should bode well for Hall.
The Eagles are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in a highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch. Carter will be able to play in the game, and maybe at some point this season he’ll be able to play next to Hall.
