Eagles' Nick Sirianni addresses private meeting amid offensive struggles

After the Philadelphia Eagles fell to 4-1 via this past Sunday's 21-17 home loss to the Denver Broncos, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver A.J. Brown and running back Saquon Barkley "had a long, positive conversation" that "lasted a couple hours."

On Wednesday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed the private meeting that occurred amid the club's offensive struggles.

Nick Sirianni likes that Eagles players are looking for "solutions"

"Love the fact that we all get together and are looking for solutions to continue to get better," Sirianni explained, per Brooks Kubena of The Athletic. "That’s just not a coaching thing. That’s just not leaders on the football team. That’s this team. That’s the mindset of this team: How do we keep getting better and play our best football by the end of the year? You love that. You love that for all the guys."

While the reigning Super Bowl champions opened the campaign with four straight wins before the Week 5 defeat, questions about the Philadelphia offense have hovered over the franchise since early September. Brown and fellow Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith are allegedly frustrated regarding their roles and their numbers. As noted by Fox Sports, Barkley began Thursday on pace to finish the season with approximately 908 rushing yards. ESPN stats show that the Eagles enter Week 6 ranked 30th in the league in average total yards per game (261.6).

Nick Sirianni hoping for a repeat of 2024 season?

Even before Philadelphia defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX earlier this year, stories revealed how discussions that occurred during the Eagles' Week 5 bye last fall sparked what became a championship run. Sirianni seems to hope history repeats itself this season.

"This isn’t all that different than last year, going through these things as well," Sirianni added. "You buckle down. You find solutions. You find answers to the problems, and you work yourself to get better from that. That’s what it’s about. That’s how you grow. That’s a mental toughness thing. Obviously, we’re all going through that in trying to get better."

As of the posting of this piece, ESPN BET had the Eagles as 7.5-point road favorites for the "Thursday Night Football" matchup at the New York Giants (1-4). That contest could eventually be viewed as a "get right game" for a Philadelphia team that seems, on paper, to have the goods to once again be part of Super Bowl conversations come January.
