Eagles offensive weapon is good as gone from roster entering August

There have been plenty of standout performances from training camp for the Philadelphia Eagles, but one player who was a breakout star in minicamp has had a quiet camp that might cost him a spot on the roster by the end of the month.

Eagles tight end Nick Muse was once seen as a sleeper pick in training camp after performing well in offseason workouts. Now, Muse is looking at the opportunity to be cut from the team as he is in a battle with Kylen Granson and Harrison Bryant for the TE3 job.

Bleeding Green Nation Eagles reporter Brandon Lee Gowton shared his observations from Sunday's training camp practice as Muse had a mixed bag performance catching passes from backup quarterback Tanner McKee.

"Here are the plays I wrote down Ricks’ name for on Sunday: a pass breakup on a Tanner McKee throw to Nick Muse in 7-on-7."

"McKee had multiple passes get knocked down but he also had some good completions as well. Such as one to a tightly covered Nick Muse on a curl route."

Can Muse find his way onto the Eagles' roster after training camp?

The former 2022 seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings is looking to finally make an impact on an NFL roster after just one catch for 22 yards in 16 career games. Muse was released by the Vikings last year, but picked up by the Eagles to be on their practice squad and win a Super Bowl for the team.

Now he's in a massive battle at training camp to earn the final tight end spot. Early indications have been that no one at tight end has separated themself. Granson seems to be getting more buzz than the other tight ends behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra.

All three preseason games will be crucial in determining whether Muse can secure the number-three spot. The stiff competition at tight end is going to be so tough for him to make it as a practice squad seems more appropriate for Muse.

A lot can still change as the Eagles just enter August, but hope is fading from Muse right now. Game one against the Cincinnati Bengals will give fans a better idea of how Muse and the rest of the tight ends are doing.
