Eagles players rip Giants' Julian Love over Nick Sirianni comments

Defensive end Brandon Graham isn't the only member of the Philadelphia Eagles to respond to New York Giants safety Julian Love's criticism of Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni. 

"Tell him to pick his facemask off the dirt," Eagles safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson said about Love, per Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice. "He's got a captain badge, but what is he a captain of? Ain't no leadership over there. If that's the case, y'all would be where we're at." 

Love generated headlines last week when he suggested on the NFL Network "Good Morning Football" program that Sirianni hadn't personally achieved much in guiding a stacked Philadelphia roster to the upcoming Super Bowl LVII matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. 

The 24-year-old also made it known that he wasn't a fan of Sirianni's sideline antics during the Eagles' 38-7 thumping of the Giants in the January playoff game. 

Gardner-Johnson may have been referring to that victory or to Love gifting Philadelphia a touchdown during the 48-22 blowout that occurred at MetLife Stadium in Week 14 on Dec. 11. 

While Graham pointed out that "people always got something to say when they’re at home," Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams hinted that Sirianni is living rent-free in the heads of rivals. 

"He's got guys mad about what he's doing on the sideline," Williams said of his head coach. "They need to be worried about what they're doing on the field. But he's just doing his job, trying to have fun with it, embrace the Philly culture." 

Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata explained why he can't find himself worrying about an opposing coach before or during games. 

"That coach ain't helping me block f------ (San Francisco 49ers star pass-rusher) Nick Bosa," Mailata said. "That wouldn't affect me. If we were on the other team and we saw Nick like that, what's that going to do? We're going to go out and execute our jobs. That's just me. I wouldn't give two damns. Personally, I'd probably use that as fuel. I'll give you something to rah-rah about. But I wouldn't get annoyed and go on TV and talk s--- about another coach. At that point, that's just petty."

Love can hit free agency when the new league year opens in March. It seems he may have burned a bridge or two with at least one could-be buyer.
