The Philadelphia Eagles have a major decision to make about one of their best players.
A.J. Brown has been frank and candid about his frustrations with the team, and even though GM Howie Roseman and HC Nick Sirianni have said all the right things about him, the situation might turn unsustainable.
Brown wants to be more involved in the passing game. The Eagles replaced offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo with Sean Mannion, but the issues might run deeper than that.
That's why the team might finally come to terms with the idea of trading the former Tennessee Titans star.
Considering that, NFL insider Albert Breer compared Brown's situation to Stefon Diggs' in 2024 to figure out a potential trade package.
"The Bills sent Diggs to the Texans that offseason, packaging him with a sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-rounder in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick. Diggs, having just turned 30, was a little more than a year older than Brown is now. Like Brown, he was coming off four 1,000-yard seasons in four years with his second NFL team. So this lines up in a lot of ways," wrote Breer.
That said, Breer believes the market for Brown might be bigger, which is why the Eagles might even be able to land a first-round pick in return for his services:
"Of course, having a few teams involved could change the price, and I’m sure Roseman will be looking for a first-rounder, or even more than just that," Breer continued. "And since it’s Roseman, you can be sure he’ll find the best deal possible for the Eagles. How good that deal is, I’d think, will probably determine whether a deal happens at all."
That sounds like a lot for a player who openly wants to leave. Then again, Roseman is a master of pulling the strings and ending up on the winning side of almost every deal he makes.
Whatever the case, the Eagles can't afford to move Brown before June 1, as that would leave them with a dead-cap hit of $40M.
So, even though they can agree to a trade and use a post-June 1 designation, there's no need to rush anything on their front.
