Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is a new man since his first start against Giants

Jalen Hurts’ first start against the Giants was terrible. His next trip to MetLife Stadium will be better.

The Giants beat Philadelphia 13-7 in their first meeting of 2021. Hurts completed 14 of 31 passes for 129 yards and no touchdowns. He also threw three interceptions. He made no excuses afterward.

"Today, I put us in a bad situation with those turnovers I had in the first half, especially going in with the opportunity to get points before halftime," Hurts said, per Dave Spadaro of the Eagles' official website. "It's something we have to overcome and we will."

He did better two weeks later when the Giants came to Philadelphia, tossing two touchdown passes and zero interceptions in a 34-10 Eagles win.

Hurts isn’t the same quarterback he was a year ago. Since his first Giants game, Hurts has lost only two contests.

According to Statmuse, Hurts now completes 68.1% of his passes. He completed 61.3% in 2021 and only 45.2% in his first Giants game.

He already has four more touchdown passes than he had all of last year, his average pass travels a yard farther and his quarterback rating is 21 points higher. No wonder the Eagles are 11-1.

There’s no reason not to expect a big game from Hurts on Sunday. His first trip to East Rutherford was full of mistakes. It looks like he's learned from them.
