Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' Parents, Pamela and Averion Hurts, Played Big Role in His Success

Before Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was a Super Bowl hero, he was a high school quarterback learning the game under his dad's guidance.

The Eagles quarterback has been close to parents Averion and Pamela Hurts, who supported his rise from high school standout to Alabama starter to NFL star. The pair got plenty of spotlight ahead of the Super Bowl in 2025, with Hurts and the Eagles taking on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Averion Hurts was Jalen's coach at Channelview High School outside of Houston, Texas, and the Eagles star said his dad helped mold him as a player and a man.

"He's the reason I am who I am on the field, off the field," Hurts told reporters in the days before the Super Bowl, via People magazine. "Being a coach's kid, I talk about it all the time, but I truly lean on that."

"To always compete, to always give my best, to always show respect to the people around me, I think those are some core things that he instilled in me," Hurts added. "I always go back to my experience and my time of being a coach's kid. Those are times I wish I could go be that kid again and do that again. Those are special times. But I learned so much, and I saw him lead."

Jalen Hurts grew up with brother Averion Jr. and sister Kynnedy, who also excelled at sports.

Pamela Hurts played the role of cheerleader this week, saying she had a feeling her son would end the week with a Super Bowl win.

"He’s continued to put in the work ... and I have a really good feeling about this one," Pamela Hurts told KPRC 2 earlier in the week. "I think we’re going to come back with a trophy.”
