Eagles QB Jalen Hurts 'ready to go' for Jets game despite ankle injury

Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered an ankle sprain in this past Sunday's disappointing 13-7 loss at the New York Giants that dropped the Eagles to 5-7 on the season.

Per Tim McManus of ESPN, Hurts spoke with reporters Wednesday and said he believes he'll be "ready to go" for this coming Sunday's showdown at the 3-8 New York Jets ahead of Philadelphia's bye week.

"You guys obviously know I'm dealing with a little something but it's business as usual," Hurts insisted.

The second-year pro had a nightmare afternoon against the Giants and completed just 14-of-31 passes for 129 yards and three interceptions. Even more worrisome, he was seen limping late into that defeat, and that led some to assume backup Gardner Minshew would get the nod against the Jets.

"He's as tough as they get. Obviously, you want that out of your quarterback," head coach Nick Sirianni said of Hurts while adding Minshew may see some first-team practice reps this week. "So, yeah, I mean, in my mind, he's playing, right? Again, like I said, we're hopeful. I think in his and my mind, we're both saying, 'Yeah, he's going.'"

Sirianni has good reason to want to push Hurts for four additional quarters before the off week, as the Eagles only trail the first-place Dallas Cowboys (7-4) by two games in the win column.

Dallas plays at the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.
