Hurts played through the injury late in the season and the playoff game, but it clearly affected him. He should be fully recovered by the start of OTAs this spring.
Per ESPN, this is related to the high-ankle sprain Hurts, 23, sustained in a game against the New York Giants on Nov. 28. Hurts played through the injury and helped push Philadelphia to a playoff berth before the team lost to the Buccaneers in the wild-card round.
Despite the injury, Hurts led all quarterbacks with 784 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns during the regular season, his first as a starter. The Eagles went 8-7-0 with the Houston, Texas, product under center this season as he completed 61.3% of his passes for 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions during the regular season.
Hurts is expected to be able to participate in offseason activities following the surgery.
