Eagles receive disappointing update minutes before kickoff vs. Giants
Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles will be shorthanded at linebacker when they take the field against the New York Giants on Christmas evening.

Linebacker Nicholas Morrow was initially questionable for Monday's matchup due to an abdomen injury.

Morrow tested out his injury during warmups and the Eagles officially ruled him out.

Starting linebacker Zach Cunningham was also ruled out with a knee injury.

This means that the Eagles will rely heavily on Shaquille Leonard and Nolan Smith in their place.

Rookie linebacker Ben VanSumeren is also expected to make his debut on the Eagles' defense.

Here is the Eagles' full list of inactives vs. the Giants:

  • QB Tanner McKee
  • RB Rashaad Penny
  • CB Darius Slay
  • LB Nicholas Morrow
  • LB Zach Cunningham
  • G Landon Dickerson
  • TE Albert Okwuegbunam

The Eagles also elevated defensive back Tristin McCollum and linebacker Brandon Smith from the practice squad for extra depth.
