Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles kicks off at 6:30 p.m. EST on Sunday night, leaving just over 48 hours until kickoff.
In the days leading up to kickoff, the Eagles received some troubling news when star defensive tackle Jalen Carter popped up on the injury report. Carter missed media sessions on Wednesday and Thursday and missed practice on Wednesday before being a full participant on Thursday while battling an illness.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter initially suggested that Carter was "fine" and his illness wouldn't be an issue for the Super Bowl.
“He was sick, but he was back to being a full participant in practice yesterday. And he is going to be out there,” Schefter said. “And I was told to use that word he’s 'fine.' Not an issue. And again, the fact that he was upgraded from limited practice earlier in the week to full practice now, tells you that he will be out there.”
Eagles insider Jeff McClane seconded the good news, reporting that Carter feels "much better" on Friday ahead of the big game.
"Hearing that #Eagles DT Jalen Carter is feeling much better, along with several other players and coaches. Carter was limited at Wednesday’s practice, but full on Thursday. Also, signs continue to point to DE Brandon Graham (elbow) being able to give it a go in Super Bowl LIX," he said in a post on social media.
Carter will have his hands full, going against some of the best interior offensive lineman in the league in Chiefs center Creed Humphrey and guard Trey Smith.
