There are many storylines arising from the Philadelphia Eagles' 34-17 loss to the New York Giants that have sparked a firestorm of negativity in the City of Brotherly Love.

One of the storylines that has taken command is the offense and the job Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has done. The numbers will show that Patullo is not getting the job done.

Philly is 30th in the NFL in total offense, averaging 274.5 yards per game. They are also 29th in passing yards (179.2) and 25th in rushing (95.3).

After the Giants game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was asked whether the coaching staff is making enough adjustments to get the team back on track in games. His response was "yeah," but that did not sit well with the Eagles media.

Sirianni is making a respectable move, but needs to start holding others accountable

During the "Verizon Postgame Show," Marc Farzetta had asked Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn whether Sirianni was covering for his coaching staff when responding to the adjustments question. Gunn stated what seems like the obvious that Sirianni has been backed in a corner where he has to as the head coach.

"No he's covering. He believes in his staff, but he's covering. He's not gonna sit there and openly admit to you that, 'Yes, we have flaws in this team right now,' because he knows that's gonna start a firestorm that they can't put out. So, basically what he's doing is he's taking the bullets for everybody. It starts with Kevin Patullo and Sirianni is the one that pushed him to be hired as the OC. So, yes he has to cover for his guy. That's what a head coach does. He's going to start finger-pointing now."

Eagles fans seem to be over the usual comments from Jalen Hurts, such as saying "execution" is the problem, and Sirianni wanting to keep everything behind closed doors. Love or hate A.J. Brown, but when he went public with his frustrations, even if it came with a cryptic post on social media, change came with it.

It's understandable that Sirianni wants to protect his staff and Patullo even more since he's the one who promoted him, but this is starting to look like the second offensive promotion from Sirianni that isn't working out. In 2023, Brian Johnson was a disaster who only lasted one season in the position.

At some point, the Eagles fan base wants to see others being held accountable for not doing their jobs. There are ways to do without being vicious about it. Eagles fans want to see some fight out of this team, and they have not seen it in the last week.
