Eagles rookie Jalen Carter might have destroyed blocking sled at OTA

2023 first-round pick Jalen Carter has yet to play an NFL game for the Philadelphia Eagles, but his legend is already growing.

A guest recently on the "Philly Talk Podcast," Eagles insider Dave Spadaro said the latest word around OTA's in Philly is that Carter "broke" a blocking sled during the first weekend.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 300-pounds, it shouldn't be a shock that Carter is strong. However, destroying a piece of equipment is quite a feat. While Spadaro called Carter a "quiet guy," the rookie is already turning heads with his size, skill, and of course, strength.

"If he puts it all together, he has a chance to be a really, really great football player," Spadaro said.

Getting off on the right foot with the Eagles is integral for Carter. The 22-year-old fell to Philadelphia at No. 9 in April's NFL Draft due to off-the-field issues surrounding a January car crash which led to the deaths of University of Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler Lecroy.

Carter was allegedly driving an SUV on a suspended license while racing another SUV occupied by Lecroy and Willock before the fatal accident. The former Bulldogs standout pleaded no contest, receiving 12 months of probation, 80 hours of community service and a fine of $1,000.

Despite the sentence, Carter's legal woes are not over yet. Carter is among the defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Willock's father in May. He is seeking $40 million in damages, including $10 million from Carter.

From all indications, Carter has been a model citizen since inking a four-year, $21.8 million contract with the Eagles on May 4. When describing Carter's short time as an NFL player, Spadaro said, "So far, so great."

"He's been at every meeting. He's been at every practice. He's been on time for everything," Spadaro said.
