Eagles select 'Swiss army knife defender' in latest NFL mock draft
Lily Smith/The Register-USA TODAY NETWORK

It sounds like the Philadelphia Eagles could go one or two ways with their first-round pick at No. 22 overall and that could be either a defensive back or offensive tackle.

Both are great options but when you're looking at the Eagles' priority roster needs, it's clear as day that the secondary could use a boost.

A to Z Sports' Destin Adams sees that too and in his latest NFL mock draft, he has the Eagles selecting Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean in the first round:

Iowa DB Cooper DeJean is one of the most polarizing players in this year's class among fans. But nearly every NFL rep I've spoken to is high on his game. The versatile defensive back has the ability to play all over the secondary, and his elite atheism is going to allow NFL defenses to use him as a Swiss army knife-type defender. With the Eagles, I think he would line up in the slot as a CB early on, but an occasional formation that has DeJean and C.J. Gardner-Johnson at safety together would be a ton of fun.

DeJean would not only be a quality pick but also a fun one because of the way he can be used as Adams mentioned.

The Iowa product can play cornerback, safety, or even develop into a linebacker.

DeJean wrapped up his final two seasons at Iowa logging 120 total tackles, 20 passed defended and seven interceptions, including three returned for a touchdown. He also returned 31 punts for 406 yards and one touchdown.

It's worth noting the Eagles have done extensive homework on DeJean and they were just one of four teams that he chose to meet with due to limited availability with Combine rechecks on his fracture fibula and later Pro Day date.

If DeJean's name is called at No. 22, Eagles fans should be really excited about him.
