The Philadelphia Eagles thanked the Jacksonville Jaguars for defeating the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday via a tasty and appropriate gift.
According to Alexandria Mansfield of the Florida Times-Union, the owner of the Jacksonville-based Philadelphia-themed restaurant Philly’s Finest confirmed that he received an order for 35 cheesesteaks and 25 large fries to be delivered to Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson on Monday following the club's 40-34 overtime win over the Cowboys.
Jeff Harris, the establishment's owner, said somebody from the Eagles reached out to let him know the request was for real and from the NFC East team. A spokesperson for the Jaguars said the food made its way to TIAA Bank Field and was "promptly eaten."
Of course, Pederson is no stranger to the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry, as he helped guide Philadelphia to the franchise's first and only Super Bowl victory in February 2018. The Eagles fired Pederson as their coach in January 2021, and he has led the Jaguars to a 6-8 record during his first season with that organization.
Under coach Nick Sirianni, the 2022 Eagles have thus far gone 13-1 and hold a commanding lead in the division standings over the 10-4 Cowboys. Philadelphia beat Dallas 26-17 in Week 6, and the two foes will meet at AT&T Stadium on Christmas Eve afternoon with the visitors needing a single win to clinch the NFC East crown.
The Eagles are also looking to secure the conference's No. 1 seed and a first-round postseason bye.
As for the Jaguars, they are creeping up on the first-place Tennessee Titans (7-7) in the AFC South standings. Jacksonville plays at the 7-7 New York Jets on Thursday night.
