Eagles star punished by NFL ahead of Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter might be the best player on his team.

He might also be the best potential WWE star.

Carter is packed for New Orleans and Super Bowl 59 but he's a bit lighter in the wallet as a result of a fine that comes from a nasty action of his in the Eagles' NFC Championship Game win over Washington.

The Philly star has been fined $17,445 for his slap to the head of Commanders center Tyler Biadasz in last week's title game.

The open-handed pre-snap blow sent the Washington Pro Bowler flying to the ground ... and for a brief moment he had to deal with some medical attention on the sideline.

Inexplicably, no flag was thrown on the play.

It was a violent play and a show of muscle ... and to some, it was a bit humorous.

As it happened live, Fox's Kevin Burkhardt remarked, "That's like a WWE move."

Carter was taken with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and the young defensive tackle has made his presence felt in the NFL, establishing himself as one of the league's most disruptive defenders.

Carter ranks third in quarterback pressures and third in tackles for loss among all defensive tackles, showcasing his exceptional ability to wreak havoc in both the run and pass game.

In a recent appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," legendary former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had high praise for the Eagles' rising star. When discussing crucial playoff moments and game-changing plays, Belichick specifically highlighted Carter's impact.

"Not blocking Jalen Carter. He's lined up on a defensive lineman, that's three technique. He's the best player on the field and gets a free run at the quarterback two plays in a row on the last two plays of your season. Those are heartbreaking," Belichick said, emphasizing how failing to account for Carter can lead to devastating results.

The incredible report card praise from Belichick, widely considered one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, carries significant weight. Known for his defensive expertise, Belichick's assessment of Carter as "the best player on the field" speaks volumes about the young defensive tackle's potential.

So he might be the best. But Biadasz probably has a nastier description for him.
