Eagles star RB Saquon Barkley reveals who has been a major key to his NFL success

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs in football, and he's made it very clear that he is beyond grateful for the opportunities the game has given him. But when the final whistle blows and the stadium lights dim, Barkley knows exactly where his heart is, and it’s not on the field.

For Barkley, life’s real MVP is his fiancée, Anna Congdon. 

"When I look at some of the moments—my highs, my lows, and my NFL career—one person that's right next to me is my fiancée," Barkley told E! News. "She's been super helpful and we've been able to create a beautiful family.

"No matter win, lose or draw, you get to come home....the things that really matter are right in front of you."

Barkley and Congdon first met during their time at Penn State and have been together since 2017. They share two children together, daughter Jada, 6, and son Saquon Jr., 2.

Congdon was right by Barkley's side when he started his career with the New York Giants, who selected him second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft following his standout career with the Nittany Lions. His six seasons in New York were filled with highs and lows and ultimately ended on a sour note after contract negotiations didn’t go his way.

He then took the next step in his career by signing with the rival Eagles in free agency.

Barkley was quick to make an immediate impact with the Birds in 2024, racking up 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as he helped lead Philadelphia to a Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Just days before the biggest game of his career, Barkley decided it was the perfect time to lock in his forever teammate, and that's when he proposed to Congdon.
