Eagles Star Takes Subtle Shot at Chiefs Before NFL Season

There were certainly a lot of contributors in the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, but there's no doubt that cornerback Cooper DeJean was one of the biggest.

He wound up returning three punts for 27 yards, recording three tackles, one pass deflection and one pick-6 off quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the second quarter, which, after the extra point, helped them snag a 17-0 lead.

Of course, their win meant Philadelphia earned bragging rights over Kansas City and the players are certainly using them, because on Monday, a video of DeJean circulated on social media of him writing "Go Birds!" on a Mahomes trading card.

There's no doubt that DeJean also earned his right to trash-talk even one of the league's best because not only did he produce on the biggest stage, but he's also coming off a great rookie season.

He appeared in 16 regular-season games with nine starts, allowing 45 receptions, 374 yards and zero touchdowns on 68 targets while also racking up 51 tackles, six pass deflections and three fumble recoveries.

DeJean's contributions were a big piece to the Eagles finishing the year ranked first in total yards per game allowed (278.4) and second in points per game allowed (17.8).

However, it will remain to be seen if this subtle jab adds fuel to the fire for Mahomes and the Chiefs, as they take on the Eagles in a Week 2 matchup on Sept. 14, where Kansas City currently sits as 1.5-point favorites, per ESPN BET.
