The Philadelphia Eagles made a pair of practice-squad cuts on Tuesday, releasing tight end Josiah Deguara and cornerback Shaun Wade while signing offensive tackle Xavier Truss and defensive tackle Zion Wilson ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, the team announced.

Deguara, 29, had joined the Eagles’ practice squad on September 15 after brief stints with the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants in training camp.

A 2020 third-round pick by the Green Bay Packers out of Cincinnati, he brought experience as a versatile H-back/tight end and special-teams contributor.

Across 77-plus regular-season games with Green Bay, Jacksonville, and Arizona, he recorded 53 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns.

Philadelphia elevated him for the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where he logged special-teams snaps but none on offense before reverting to the practice squad.

Wade’s departure ends his second stint with the organization.

The 28-year-old Ohio State product, a 2021 fifth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens who later played for the New England Patriots, signed with Philadelphia in June, was released at the final roster cutdown, and returned to the practice squad on September 24.

He stood out in the preseason with forced fumbles and had previously produced in the UFL with the Dallas Renegades.

His release thins experienced cornerback depth behind a secondary that already features Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Riq Woolen, and others.

In corresponding moves, the Eagles added Truss, a 6-foot-7, 320-pound former Georgia standout and undrafted free agent who appeared in seven games for the New Orleans Saints as a rookie in 2025 before recent practice-squad time with Cleveland.

Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 316-pound defensive tackle, returns after an earlier offseason stint with Philadelphia following a productive final college season at East Carolina.

These additions bolster the lines of scrimmage as the Eagles manage ongoing depth issues, including injuries and recent transactions such as Lane Johnson’s retirement and the Cam Jurgens trade.

The moves reflect routine midseason roster churn as Philadelphia, sitting at 2-3 entering the Panthers game, prioritizes developmental and positional flexibility on the practice squad.

Neither Deguara nor Wade was elevated to the active roster as part of Tuesday’s transactions, leaving the Eagles with openings that Truss and Wilson now fill.
