Thanks to the excitement of the National Football League's schedule release this past Wednesday, football fans are eager to start the 2025-26 season.
The Philadelphia Eagles are soaring high, coming off their second Super Bowl championship in franchise history. The team will enter this upcoming year with but should be prepared to handle any challenge that is thrown its way.
Being prepared for anything and everything is a challenge that Eagles' head coach Nick Sirianni welcomes. The birds' leader has put together quite the resume in his brief tenure as the leader of the Eagles. In 4 seasons, the Eagles have reached the playoffs 4 times, won the NFC East 2 times, appeared in 2 Super Bowls, and, of course, won Super Bowl 59.
Sirianni overcame early skepticism and doubt when he took his team to the Super Bowl in 2022. While the team was unsuccessful in capturing the league's ultimate prize that year, it helped Sirianni develop. It raised his status in the game and gave him the confidence he needed. This boost ultimately helped shape the team that paraded down Broad Street this past February.
The victory over the Kansas City Chiefs made Sirianni the 35th head coach in NFL history to win a Super Bowl. This put him into an exclusive group, not just the collection of coaches to win the big game. His triumph catapulted Sirianni amongst his peers, launching him from a top 10 coach in the league into the top five.
Seven active head coaches in the NFL have Super Bowl rings. Andy Reid leads the pack with three championships with the Kansas City Chiefs. Mike Tomlin (Steelers), Sean Peyton (during Saints tenure), John Harbaugh (Ravens), Pete Carroll (during Seahawks tenure), and Sean McVay (Rams) all share one championship with Sirianni.
Several NFL head coaches have caught fire since taking over their respective teams. That list includes coaches such as Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions, Kyle Shanahan of the San Francisco 49ers, and Kevin O'Connell of the Minnesota Vikings. These coaches have all had their share of success. Shanahan has the most of the crew, with two Super Bowl appearances. However, despite the popularity and wins that these men have shared, they have been leapfrogged by the Eagles' shot caller.
For Sirianni, the rest of the coaches in the league are chasing what he and those other gentlemen have accomplished. Winning in a market as demanding as Philadelphia has helped earn his stripes while also putting together quite a resume.
As we head into this upcoming season, we should begin to hear conversations surrounding the Eagles' head coach as one of the best in the sport. He has certainly become the top head coach hire of the past decade, and as the Eagles continue to win, Sirianni's legend will continue to grow.
