Eagles TE Dallas Goedert punched at South Dakota restaurant, sent to hospital

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was sent to the hospital Saturday following an incident at a South Dakota restaurant, according to NJ.com's Mike Kaye.

Goedert was at a restaurant with his family in Aberdeen, South Dakota, with his family when he was sucker-punched around 1 a.m., according to reports, but was not seriously injured and was released as a result. Police were called to the scene, and ESPN's Tim McManus reports the suspect was arrested.

Goedert is entering his third NFL season after being selected by the Eagles out of South Dakota State in 2018. He was Philadelphia's second-leading receiver last season with 58 receptions for 607 yards and five touchdowns.

The 25-year-old probably won't be in South Dakota much longer, as all NFL teams are expected to begin training camp next month amid the coronavirus pandemic.

There's been no word yet on whether or not the season will begin on time, but Goedert and the Eagles likely will be ready to go no matter what happens.
