Eagles undrafted free agent everyone forgot might be their 2025 breakout star

When discussing the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive line, there are some of the top names in the NFL on there, but one player might have emerged as a sleeper no one is talking about.

Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis get all the attention, with them being two of the best in the league, with Carter as a premier pass rusher and Davis a run stopper. Moro Ojomo has been a breakout star on the Eagles in 2025.

One of the interesting aspects of training camp is who is going to be the depth players on the defensive line. Rookie fourth-round pick Ty Robinson appears to be the only lock for a roster spot. A surprise name to keep an eye on: Gabe Hall.

How the 2024 undrafted free agent Gabe Hall can sneak onto the Eagles' roster

Hall played his entire college career at Baylor, where he was known for being a reliable pass rusher at the tackle position. He did not get drafted in 2024 as he ended up signing with the Eagles.

Philadelphia did not have him on its 53-man roster. Hall instead spent the season on the practice squad, as he still contributed to the Eagles' preparation for winning the Super Bowl.

He returns for his second season in the hopes of winning a roster spot at defensive tackle, that's got some competition. Removing Robinson from the conversation, Thomas Booker IV and Byron Young are Hall's biggest competition.

Booker had playing time last year with Philadelphia as he racked up 18 tackles, two quarterback hits, and one sack in 17 games. Young was a former third-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 and was on the Eagles' roster last year, but didn't play.

The departure of Milton Williams opened up a roster spot that will be up for grabs. Hall can compete with Young and beat him out for the job. One thing Hall has over Young that Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio loves in his defensive tackles: versatility.

Hall is not a typical run-stopping defensive tackle. He can be utilized in pass-rush situations and win those battles at the line, similar to what Carter and Davis can do.

Not a lot of opportunities for Hall to play since joining Philadelphia, but preseason will be his first big test of the season. Watch out for him to be competitive for a roster spot and earn some playing time during the regular season.
