Eagles' Week 7 inactives finally answers Jalen Carter, Landon Dickerson mystery

The Philadelphia Eagles have released their final Week 7 inactive list right before the Minnesota Vikings showdown, and it is only good news for the team.

Five players were included on the list. Noticeably, two key starters were not included on the list: Jalen Carter and Landon Dickerson.

  • Sam Howell, 3rd QB
  • Mac McWilliams, CB
  • A.J. Dillon, RB
  • Drew Kendall, OL
  • Grant Calcaterra, TE

Carter has been dealing with a heel injury that has prevented him from playing in the New York Giants game. Dickerson was knocked out of the Denver Broncos' loss with an ankle injury and also missed the Giants matchup.

It is no surprise that Calcaterra won't play after already being ruled out. His oblique injury, which he suffered in the Broncos game, will keep him out of a second straight matchup.

The big surprise is running back A.J. Dillon being active after serving as the backup to Saquon Barkley for part of the season. Dillon had a rough outing against the Giants, as late in the game muffed a kickoff return and fumbled a few plays later on the same drive.

Carter and Dickerson are big for the Eagles to come back

Philly's defense felt the effect of not having Carter available to play against the Giants as New York ran all over them in the 34-17 loss. The lack of a pass rush was alarming for the Eagles, especially with Za'Darius Smith announcing his retirement earlier in the week.

Even the Eagles' offensive line has some issues with consistent pass protection. Dickerson has been banged up all season and was something seen as a liability for the team. The extra time of rest he got should help in seeing a difference in his play.

This Vikings matchup is a critical one for the Eagles, and they need all their star players back. Carter and Dickerson instantly improve this roster going into the game.
