Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins has not shown up to the -voluntary- workouts. Fans are beginning to take notice of Elgton Jenkins’s absence. With Jenkins expected to shift from left guard to center for the 2025 season, it is news that is raising eyebrows, both off the field and on.
Speaking of Jenkins’ absence earlier this week, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said the 34-year-old lineman is “open to it, excited about it”, referring to a positional change. Nevertheless, Stenavich mentioned, “other reasons” why Jenkins was not in Green Bay, but he gave no more details.
Adam Stenavich said based on the conversations he’s had with Elgton Jenkins about moving to center, “I think he’s open to it.”
So that’s not the reason Jenkins isn’t here for the offseason workouts?

According to various reports, one of those reasons might be related to the contract. Jenkins has a contract through 2026, but none of his remaining base salaries ($11.7 million in 2025, $18.5 million in ’26) are guaranteed. With a shift to center, arguably the most mentally taxing position on the line, Jenkins may be advocating to be rewarded for his new position through a renegotiated deal.
Meanwhile, Jenkins grabbed the newspaper headlines for a different cause. TMZ said that the All-Pro lineman was engaged in a dispute at an Atlanta strip club earlier this month. When things heated up, police were called. Fortunately, the situation was resolved, and no arrests or citations were given.
Although voluntary workouts are voluntary, the absence of Jenkins could not have come at a worse time. The Packers re-tooled their offense with new weapons such as Mecole Hardman, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, etc., and after two consecutive postseason appearances, chemistry and communication along the offensive line is key. Especially with a young quarterback such as Jordan Love under center. Whether it is the money involved, the timing, or personal issues, Jenkins’ return will be under the microscope. For now, Green Bay will be getting ready for a big 2025 season, and they are hoping their new center will be ready when it comes down to it.More must-reads:
