Eli Apple gets clowned on social media after Rams' decisive drive

Eli Apple got cooked by Cooper Kupp during Sunday’s Super Bowl and then got cooked again by social media.

The Cincinnati Bengals cornerback allowed the game-winning score to Kupp with fewer than 90 seconds remaining in the fourth. It was part of a brutal final sequence for Apple, who let Kupp get four catches for 39 yards on that drive alone. Apple also got called for a pass interference on Kupp two plays before the decisive TD.

Twitter users quickly put aside their collective differences and banded together to roast Apple. Here were some of the funniest tweets.

Apple even got an embarrassing edit to his Wikipedia page and also heard it from both Mecole Hardman of the Kansas City Chiefs and Michael Thomas of the New Orleans Saints.

Granted, Apple was asking for it in the leadup to Super Bowl LVI. He had gotten into it on Twitter in previous weeks with fans of the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints, two of his former teams. Apple even dissed one Chiefs star after the Bengals defeated Kansas City in the AFC title game.

Unfortunately for Apple, he could not back up his trash talk with his play on Sunday. Thus, he had to pay the consequences for it and take his L online.
