American businessman Michael Rubin, the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, has asked sports personalities and other celebrities to accept his "All-In Challenge" to benefit individuals directly financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning answered the call in a big way.
As reported by TMZ Sports, the two-time Super Bowl champion is donating the 2012 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible Centennial Edition that he won after he earned Super Bowl XLVI honors for leading the Giants on a title-winning drive versus Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
"What I'll do," Manning explained in a recorded video, "is I will actually come and hand-deliver this to whoever wins it. And we'll get to hang out for a little bit...Maybe even I'll teach you how to handle this bad boy," the MVP of Super Bowls XLII and XLVI added.
As of noon ET on Thursday, the bid for Manning's vehicle was up to $80,000. The auction ends on Saturday, April 25.
In February 2017, Manning and legendary Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald were named co-winners of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for their "excellence on and off the field." The 39-year-old responsible for The Eli Manning Children’s Clinics at the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson, Miss., has also provided assistance for multiple charitable endeavors in the New York City region throughout his storied career. Manning won the 2020 Athletes in Action/Bart Starr Award soon after he made his last active appearance in a Giants uniform and retired in January.
