The Baltimore Ravens are embarking on a new era this offseason, whether or not that includes quarterback Lamar Jackson is up to him.

As the Ravens begin the Todd Monken era as offensive coordinator, Jackson and the team are discussing his future. And Monken would like Jackson to be a part of it.

Monken spoke to the media on Tuesday and gave his thoughts about Jackson as a quarterback.

“Elite. You know, he’s got an elite skill set. … I think he’s underrated as a passer, in terms of his ability to make plays and throw it down the field.”

Last season, Jackson threw for 2,242 yards in just 12 games, including 17 touchdowns to just seven interceptions while also accounting for 764 yards on 112 carries on the ground, and three more touchdowns.

But there's confidence in the room that adding some weapons to Jackson's repertoire could fix many of the deficiencies in the future.

The Ravens made the playoffs with Jackson injured last season, but were one and done.

In what has been lauded as a superb move by the Ravens, Monken is now seen as the man who can take Jackson and his current skill set to new heights according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

Jackson has been one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks since coming into the league, which is why the hire of Monken fits so well.

Monken's Bulldogs averaged 39.8 points per game while also having a balanced offense that saw Georgia rush for 200 yards per game while throwing for 273.

With a player like Jackson, that feels like a recipe for success. Not to mention what Monken was able to do with Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett.

That growth will undoubtedly have Ravens fans excited about what Monken can do with Lamar.

Last season Jackson had his lowest completion percentage (62.3), passing yards (2,242), passing attempts (326), and rushing yards per game (63.7) since his rookie year. Nowhere to go but up, right?

Is Monken the man to fix Lamar and get him back to the MVP version that sliced and diced through the league?

If Monken and Jackson can spend some time together, things could get very interesting for the Ravens and the AFC North.
