Eric DeCosta gives murky update on Rashod Bateman investigation

According to DeCosta, the team is preparing for the possibility that they could be without the wide receiver to start the season.

“Well, it’s obviously something that we’re very disappointed about, that we have to deal with these kind of things right now. A little bit of a distraction at some points. But we made a statement. We knew about it right away. We contacted the league right away, spoke to the league. The league has been doing an investigation, as well as I suppose the authorities. In these matters, we just really kind of sit back and wait for the league and for the authorities to tell us what’s going on. We have no indication how long that’s gonna take.”

DeCosta pivoted to the receiver room as a whole, expressing confidence in the group despite the uncertainty surrounding Bateman.

“Again, I feel like we’ve got a young group of receivers, but a group of receivers that we’re excited about, a bunch of guys that can make plays. Excited about that. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”

Bateman was an essential player in the Baltimore Ravens offense, finishing last season playing 13 games and finishing the season with 19 receptions for 224 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 11.8 yards per reception.
