The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Jordan Love have high expectations and goals heading into the upcoming 2025 NFL season. In fact, there is only one goal for the team this year.
Following the Aaron Rodgers trade, Love and the Packers have been able to make the playoffs in two straight years. However, they have come up short of the Super Bowl.
No one can blame them for not winning a championship with such a young roster. That being said, entering year three with the same roster core, Green Bay is expecting more success.
Last season, Love did not live up to the hype. He was expected to have an MVP-caliber season, but that was not the case. In Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, Love went down with a knee injury that forced him to miss two games.
After missing those two games, Love was never able to fire on all cylinders. He had great moments throughout the year, but he also had a lot of performances where he simply didn’t make much of an impact.
Heading into the 2025 season, ESPN has released their projections for Love. They aren’t necessarily the projections that the Packers are hoping to see from their franchise quarterback.
Mike Clay of ESPN has projected Love to complete 350 of his 543 pass attempts for 4,043 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Those aren’t bad numbers, but they’re not great either.
Love has an elite core around him this year. At wide receiver, he currently has Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, Savion Williams, and Dontayvion Wicks. He also has Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave at the tight end position.
In the backfield, Love will have Josh Jacobs helping take pressure off of him and the passing attack. MarShawn Lloyd will also be back on the field after missing most of his rookie year.
Hopefully, Love will be able to take the next step. If he can play at an MVP-caliber level, Green Bay is going to be a very difficult team to beat and could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
