De'Von Achane has had a strong start to his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins. And fans around the league have taken notice and will very likely be keeping a close eye on him moving forward.
After all, the interest in fantasy football remains at a peak and isn't going to dip anytime soon in all likelihood. Despite 2024 being a disappointing season for the Dolphins, Achane was a force in fantasy. He finished fifth among all running backs in total points scored with 299.9 in PPR leagues (point per reception). The four who finished higher were, in order, Detroit's Jahmyr Gibbs, Philadelphia's Saquon Barkley, Atlanta's Bijan Robinson, and Baltimore's Derrick Henry.
So, how does Achane's outlook look in the expert's eyes for 2025? Still quite high. ESPN's panel of 12 fantasy football experts did a mock draft recently, and Achane checked in at the seventh overall pick and the fifth running back taken.
This is how the first round went:
1. Bijan Robinson, Atl (RB1)
2. Ja'Marr Chase, Cin (WR1)
3. Justin Jefferson, Min (WR2)
4. Jahmyr Gibbs, Det (RB2)
5. Saquon Barkley, Phi (RB3)
6. Ashton Jeanty, LV (RB4)
7. De'Von Achane, Mia (RB5)
8. Puka Nacua, LAR (WR3)
9. CeeDee Lamb, Dal (WR4)
10. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Det (WR5)
11. Christian McCaffrey, SF (RB6)
12. Jonathan Taylor, Ind (RB7)
Ergo, the experts see more of the same from him in 2025.
Achane totaled 800 rushing yards on just 103 carries in 2023 with 197 receiving yards, and he would surely have eclipsed 1000 yards on the ground had it not been for a knee injury that sidelined him on injured reserve.
2024 saw a major shift in the Dolphins' offensive gameplan with the ground game slowed by a poor offensive line and a passing game that missed Tua Tagovailoa for six weeks due to injury. Achane turned out to be a huge beneficiary of that, as he totaled 281 touches (with 78 catches) and 1499 scrimmage yards. That indeed is a PPR monster.
It will be interesting to see if he spends more time as a pass catcher than between-the-tackles runner in 2025, and that will depend in no small part on the Dolphins' ability to establish better running lanes this fall. However, regardless of what Miami does, Achane will have the ball in his hands plenty with opportunity to take another step forward in his progression.
And that should have a lot of fantasy fans across the country glued to their screens watching him play this fall.
