Four weeks into the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams have regularly displayed just how dangerous their passing attack can be.
Puka Nacua is leading the NFL in catches and receiving yards. Davante Adams has proven he still has plenty left in the tank with 269 yards and three touchdowns despite playing through an injury last week. Matthew Stafford is currently second in the NFL in passing yards.
It's a unit that will be key to the Rams' success this season, but there are some questions about the group's future.
At some point Stafford will retire and that might not be too far down the road. He turns 38 in February and has entered two of the last three seasons with injury concerns.
As it stands, there is no clear succession plan for when that day comes.
The Rams do own a pair of first-round picks in the 2026 draft, so they could use either to land a quarterback or package the two to try and move up in the draft for a QB if there's one they really want.
However, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler believes a potential solution could be presented them well ahead of the draft.
While discussing QBs who could be traded ahead of this year's deadline in a recent article, Fowler mentioned that he believes Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson would be interested in a move to the Rams.
Richardson has a had a rough run with the Colts. They threw him into action immediately as a rookie despite him being seen as more of a project QB when he entered the league.
They unfortunately didn't get to see much of him under center that year as he was injured twice in the first five games and the second injury ended his season.
His second year was a mess. He struggled early and got benched. Then he got unbenched when the Colts realized Joe Flacco didn't actually give them a better chance at making the playoffs. Then Richardson struggled some more and eventually missed the last two games of the season with another injury.
Over the course of the season he completed just 47.7% of passes and threw eight touchdowns with 12 interceptions.
2025 was expected to be his last chance to prove himself for the Colts, but he ended up losing the QB battle against Daniel Jones.
Now Jones has been surprisingly capable in his first four games as the Colts' QB, which seems to have Richardson stuck in limbo.
If the Colts don't plan on giving him another shot at the starting job next year, it makes sense for them to try and get some kind of return for a guy they drafted fourth overall.
The Rams could be a good fit for him. They have plenty of weapons on offense that could help him elevate his game and Sean McVay would be a pretty good candidate to get him on track.
Making this move would also give the Rams a potential long-term solution at QB without having to spend either of those first rounders.
There's still plenty of reason to believe Richardson can succeed. We're talking about a guy with elite physical traits who is still only 23 years old. He's only three days older than Cam Ward, who went first overall this year.
There is still time for Richardson to pan out.
If they can get him for a reasonable price, the Rams should absolutely take a look at adding Richardson as a QB who could potentially succeed Stafford.
