The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off a dominant Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs that left no doubt as to who the best team in the NFL is, are poised to earn even more jewelry in 2025 after the rest of the conference failed to improve around them.
The Eagles have built a team that is a sustainable winner, as they are the clear NFC favorites at time of writing. ESPN is even more bullish on them than most, as all of their projection models have the Eagles running away with the division.
The Eagles, who were listed as the top team in ESPN's Football Power Index ahead of the 2025 season, barely beating out the second-place Chiefs. With how lackluster the rest of the NFC is viewed when compared to the top half of the AFC, Philly is expected to end up with another banner to hang.
Of the five most likely Super Bowl matchups the FPI calculated, the top three all feature the Eagles. Even after the roster needed to be shaken up just a bit, the numbers say that this team is poised to dominate the conference once more.
The Eagles were able to retain most of their big names from last season, as the core of a team that featured a 2,000-yard rusher and arguably the best defense in the league is once again ready to take on an NFC that is currently viewed as much weaker than its counterpart in the AFC.
There have been some significant downgrades, however. Starting right guard Mekhi Becton, defensive tackle Milton Williams, and pass rusher Josh Sweat signed big contracts with the Chargers, Patriots, and Cardinals (respectively) in free agency. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore left to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
Even with that, there are only a handful of teams that could challenge Philadelphia. The Detroit Lions need to prove they can win in the postseason, the Washington Commanders don't have the defensive quality needed to match Philadelphia, and the San Francisco 49ers have too many question marks.
Philadelphia has the ability to start a dynasty if they are able to pull off yet another Super Bowl victory. If Hurts and Barkley are healthy, and new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is able to replace Moore, expect Philadelphia to be the kings of the NFC again.
