GLENDALE – Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is entering his seventh season with the franchise. Since being drafted 1st overall in 2019, Murray’s time in Arizona has been a roller coaster. The 28-year-old made Pro Bowls in two of his first three seasons, making the playoffs for the first time in his third season. Murray’s trajectory was sky high, but soon fell off a cliff.

Murray tore his ACL in 2022 and has been battling back ever since. Despite working extremely hard to get back on the field, media analysts and fans have questioned Murray’s commitment to the team and his football career. He silenced those doubts in 2024, playing in all 17 games and doubling Arizona’s win total in the past two seasons with eight.

Last year built a lot of confidence within the organization for the team to compete for a playoff spot for the first time since 2021. However, ESPN’s Ben Solak is going a step deeper with him believing in Murray to get his first ever playoff win.

Solak on Murray’s goal with the Cardinals:

“Cardinals QB Kyler Murray has 82 career starts without a playoff win, which feels like a lot but is only tied for 29th out of all quarterbacks since 1950. Chargers QB Justin Herbert is just behind him with 79. One of the two will get their first postseason win this season. Maybe both.”

Last year, the Cardinals quarterback recorded 3,851 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Murray’s counting stats rival his Pro Bowl seasons in 2020 and 2021. General manager Monti Ossenfort drafted Marvin Harrison Jr. fourth overall, giving Murray and much needed weapon.

Despite a slow start to their partnership, Murray and Harrison had a stellar finish to the year. The rise of 25-year-old tight end Trey McBride played a major part to Murray’s return to glory in 2024. Those two receiving threats, and running back James Conner stellar downhill attack, has made the team’s offense a well-oiled machine.

Ossenfort spent money to improve Arizona’s defense this offseason. Signing Pro Bowlers like edge Josh Sweat and defensive tackle Calais Campbell. With the defense expected to take a massive leap next season, Murray has no excuse to secure a spot in the Playoffs and potentially his first playoff win.
