ESPN parts ways with longtime NFL analyst

The ESPN layoffs keep coming, and this time it is longtime NFL analyst Damien Woody.

Woody, who won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, spent 15 years at ESPN. On Wednesday, Woody told Andrew Marchand of The Athletic that his contract was not renewed.

After the news came, Woody did say he had a great time during his run at the network.

“Being at ESPN for 15 years, it’s been an absolute joy,” Woody said, via Andrew Marchand.

In July, ESPN laid off a series of big-name personalities, including longtime television voice Karl Ravech. The layoffs also included Cam Newton and Ryan Clark, and NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero was let go following the ESPN-NFL Network merger.

For now, Ravech is still on the air and is set to call the Little League World Series, and Woody will remain on set until the end of the month.

Woody appeared on a series of shows, including “Get Up,” “First Take,” “Fantasy Football Now” and “SportsCenter.”

Four years ago, Woody had an offer from FS1, but ESPN gave the former Patriots star a raise to keep him at the network, and he had also been one of the more popular analysts on the network.

Damien Woody will now search for other opportunities, and he told Marchand he just wants to “talk ball.”
