With the NFL free agency negotiation period open and operating at full capacity, the annual quarterback carousel is in motion. Teams such as the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Giants are all potentially seeking their next starting QB in this free agent class.
With Sam Darnold, Justin Fields, and Geno Smith all finding new homes, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson remain the biggest available names in the current QB market. Rodgers, through reports, has been linked to the Vikings, Steelers, and Giants for weeks.
And on Tuesday morning's "Get Up", ESPN's Dan Orlovsky, was asked if Rodgers would be a good fit for the Vikings. Not only was Orlovsky's answer direct, it was a clear warning shot fired right at the entire Vikings organization.
"That would be a mistake by the Minnesota Vikings. ... Aaron [Rodgers] comes with a lot. ... Do not bring that into your building."

"That would be a mistake by the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota, you've made the determination, the decision to allow Sam Darnold to go. You've now declared, listen this is more than likely JJ McCarthy's football team. And we want it to be JJ McCarthy's football team. Aaron (Rodgers) comes with a lot, whether people like it or not, it's a lot. Do not bring that into your building. Do not bring that into your football team. You're handing the keys over to a young player and saying this going to be your opportunity, lead us forward. And bringing in Aaron Rodgers is going to hinder that in some capacity, stunt that in some capacity," Orlovsky said.
Rodgers played all 17 games with the New York Jets last season, throwing for 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, completing 63.0% of his passes. The Jets finished with a 5-12 record.
Darnold, played all 17 games with the Vikings last season as well, throwing for 4,319 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, completing 61.2% of his passes. Despite the Vikings finishing with a 14-3 record, they lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams.
McCarthy was selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft after winning a College Football National Championship with the University of Michigan. McCarthy suffered a season-ending torn meniscus in his right knee during last year's preseason, opening the door for Darnold.
If the Vikings were to ignore Orlovsky's warning, Rodgers would continue following the NFL career path of Hall of Famer, Brett Favre. Favre also played for the Green Bay Packers and Jets before finishing his career with the Vikings.
