ESPN's Eagles bold prediction could be bad news for Super Bowl repeat dreams

There's really only one reason why most teams don't repeat as Super Bowl champs: it's super hard. For most, even winning one is the achievement of a lifetime; two, especially in back-to-back years, soars way beyond even the most ambitious dreams. It happens, like, once a decade – if that.

And of course that won't stop Philly from spending basically every second of this season convinced it's going to happen to the Eagles. On paper, they look about as good as any Super Bowl contender, and it's not like the NFC East is going to be that hard to win. There is, in theory, a pretty clear path back to Santa Clara (sigh) for next year.

But wait! ESPN has arrived to let you know that, actually, it's probably not in the cards. And maybe I'm just overreacting to the idea that someone thinks the Eagles will 'lose' a 'few' games, but that's the luxury you get when you win a Super Bowl. In their post-schedule release bold predictions that dropped on Thursday morning, their Eagles outlook is particularly grim for a team that should be, at the very least, co-favorites to win the division this year.

ESPN's bold prediction for the Eagles' season is a huge bummer and probably worth ignoring

"The Eagles will have to fight out of a small hole at the beginning of the season. The Cowboys, Chiefs and Rams all have something to prove, with two of them in Kansas City and Los Angeles losing to the Eagles last postseason. Philadelphia will be adjusting to a new offensive coordinator in Kevin Patullo following the departure of Kellen Moore this offseason, while the defense will be breaking in several new starters. That could equal a loss or two early on."

A loss or two! Absurd. I refuse to believe it. Sure, maybe they lose to the Chiefs – especially with the game in Kansas City, I can see that. But the Rams? The *Cowboys?!* Dallas always has something to prove and we're all extremely aware of how that goes. I'm not worried about LA either: one of these days, the choice to keep running out a 55-year old quarterback is going to come back to bite them. So, basically, they'll probably lose one early regular season game to the NFL's modern dynasty. I can live with that.
