The BYU Cougars and Texas Tech Red Raiders faced off in a massive Big 12 showdown on Saturday afternoon.
BYU came into the game with an 8-0 record, while Texas Tech was 8-1. Once the game kicked off, it was all Texas Tech, and the program jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Red Raiders added a field goal in the second quarter to go up 13-0 at halftime before outscoring the Cougars 16-7 in the second half to win 29-7. Red Raiders quarterback Behren Morton finished the game with 219 yards through the air, one touchdown and no interceptions.
During the game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Red Raiders alum Patrick Mahomes was featured prominently on the broadcast. He was the celebrity guest picker during "College GameDay," and some fans grew sick of seeing him on the broadcast throughout the game.
"Are we here to watch Texas Tech or here to watch Patrick Mahomes watch Texas Tech, ESPN?" one fan posted on X.
"ESPN gotta stop showing Patrick Mahomes. Quite literally no one outside Chiefs and Tech fans want to see him," another X post read.
"Taylor Swift is to CBS what Patrick Mahomes is to ABC," another fan posted.
"The amount of times ABC keeps showing Patrick Mahomes during the BYU game is more annoying than the number of times they show Taylor Swift at Chiefs games," another post read.
"Patrick Mahomes is the Taylor Swift of this game," another X post read.
Mahomes got to see his alma mater improve to 9-1 after the Red Raiders' dominant win.
