Even Mike Pereira couldn't defend awful roughing call against Chiefs DT Chris Jones on MNF

It was one of the worst calls of all time. Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones was called for a "roughing the passer" penalty on third-and-eight after a beautiful strip-sack of Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

It was a textbook sack and the Chiefs, down 20-7 at the time, desperately needed the football as well as the momentum.

The sack looked like a massive play for Kansas City's defense, but then the yellow flag hit the field. Despite the tackle literally being good enough to make it onto one of the NFL's player safety videos, Jones was called for "roughing the passer".

Again, it was one of the worst calls of all time. Watch it for yourself.

You won't find many worse calls in the history of sports, and if THAT is what the NFL considers "roughing the passer", the league is in a world of trouble.

Heck, even former NFL Vice President of Officiatingreferees and FOX Sports rules analyst Mike Pereira couldn't defend the call -- and he's always carrying water for the league and its incompetent referees.

Many of the player safety rules the league has enacted over the years have been helpful in regards to reducing the risk of concussions. But playing ticky-tack with the quarterback just because?

That's not something that the fans will endure for long.
