General Manager Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles appear to have struck gold in the 2025 NFL Draft, as Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba continue to garner honors, accolades, and praise this early in the 2025 NFL season.
Pro Football Focus writer/analyst Jim Wyman has selected both of the top rookies in the Eagles draft class for his PFF Week 3 Rookie Team of the Week, which at this point is becoming a weekly occurrence. Campbell (76.1) and Mukuba (68.5) were among the top rookies at their positions, continuing their success in the young NFL season.
Mukuba came back to Earth this week after a dynamic performance in Week 2, but still showed the potential Eagles fans need from their young safety.
"Mukuba was very balanced in his performance against the Rams on Sunday, recording a 67.3 PFF run-defense grade and 64.6 in coverage," Wyman said. "The second-rounder out of Texas was never targeted in coverage and had two assisted tackles against the run while primarily playing a deep zone role."
Campbell may be running away with the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in the early quarter of the 2025 season. His Week 3 performance solidified him as a "rising star" for 2025, particularly as an underrated piece in coverage.
"Campbell has been a force on the Eagles’ defense through three games, as he continues to be stellar in coverage," Wyman said. "On 22 coverage snaps, Campbell allowed just one catch for seven yards, which can be forgiven since he was matched up against Puka Nacua on an out route. He was also good as a pass rusher. Campbell pursued the quarterback 11 times and posted an 18.2% pass-rush win rate."
Campbell and Mukuba have already cemented themselves as elite prospects in Rosman's rookie class. Between Mukuba and Campbell, coupled with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, the Eagles have hit "gold" twice over the past two years in the drafting/developing talent.
The Eagles' consistent success from their personnel/scouting department has continued to make waves across the NFL with their ability to "reload" talent, continue a "youth movement", and enhance the overall formation of the team. With stars like Campbell and Mukuba, following in the footsteps of successful draft classes that came before them, the Eagles are in a great position for not only the present but also the future.
