There is a valid discussion about if Jordan Love is a top 10 quarterback in the NFL or not. Most advanced metrics say he is, but the Green Bay Packers franchise player was left off ESPN's list with votes from executives, coaches, and scouts. Love received an honorable mention, but was behind players like Detroit Lions' Jared Goff, Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield.
But even though Love was snubbed, there's a sense of admission that his injuries and wide receiver problems in 2024 affected the perception over his individual performance.
"It looked like it took him time to work through managing that injury," an unnamed NFL personnel evaluator told ESPN. "Another full offseason with [head coach Matt] LaFleur and more receiving options and he'll be fine."
The same evaluator indicated how efficient and explosive Jordan Love can be due to his natural talent.
"He was [expletive] outstanding," the evaluator added. "Play-action on time, big arm, confidence."
Last season, Jordan Love was ninth in EPA/play, fourth in air yards, and 15th in success rate. And his receivers were dead last in mistakes.
The difference when Love was the healthiest in 2024 is also significant. Evaluating only the period between Weeks 11 and 17, Love was third in EPA/play, seventh in success rate, and seventh in air yards. Those numbers scream a top 10 quarterback, and it's probably where he will be on next year's rankings—and probably where he should already be isolating individual production.
