Everything we know about the Detroit Lions and the NFL trade deadline right now
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. Eastern, and everyone is wondering what the Detroit Lions will do. We'll find out the answer to that before long. Until then, here's everything we know at this time:

Lions head coach Dan Campbell doesn't think a trade will happen, but that doesn't mean it won't

Ahead of the Lions' matchup with the Vikings, Campbell was asked if he felt the Lions would make a move at the trade deadline, and he said this:

“I mean, look, I don’t. But that doesn’t mean we won’t. I mean, he’s brought up a couple of things already. But I’m not - I’m so focused on the here and now and the roster we have in place getting these guys ready to go. I love where we’re at. I think the roster is healthy, I think it’s in a good position, I think we have depth. But like I say, he’s always looking to improve the roster. That’s one of his jobs, and he does a hell of a job at it.”

Campbell says the Lions have looked at some offensive linemen ahead of the trade deadline

Campbell was on 97.1 The Ticket on Tuesday morning ahead of the deadline and was asked if the Lions would add an offensive lineman at the deadline; his answer was simply, "We've looked there for sure." So it would appear the Lions are at least doing their due diligence in that area.

The Lions have called the Bengals about multiple players, including Trey Hendrickson

Lions fans would love an edge rusher, and they prefer an edge rusher who is really good. The good news is that, per Diana Russini of The Athletic, the Lions are one of the teams that have called the Bengals to ask about last year's sack leader, Trey Hendrickson.

They've also reportedly asked about cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt and Logan Wilson, who just got traded to the Cowboys.

Lions making calls about defensive linemen and safeties

In that same piece, Russini notes that the Lions have been calling around looking for defensive linemen and safeties. She did not note what teams the Lions had called or who they could be looking for outside of the Lions being one of the teams that called the Bengals.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer also added that the Lions were among the teams he's heard were looking for edge rushers.

That's all we know at this time, but we will update this page as soon as more information comes in.
