This offseason, the Los Angeles Chargers made a splashing move by hiring one of the top college football coaches, Jim Harbaugh in a lucrative deal. The veteran changed the entire narrative of collegiate football and as he joined the Chargers, he brought along several other coaches to bring the magic to the city of Los Angeles.

The sole reason why the franchise spent a huge amount of $16 million and tied him up for the second highest-paid coaches in US Sports, is their belief that Harbaugh would coach the team to the Super Bowl trophy. And based on the words of former NFL star Donte Whitner, the Chargers weren’t wrong with this move.

Moreover, Whitner’s confidence in the former Michigan head coach holds value as well, since he has played three seasons under him at the 49ers. Before entering college football, in the four seasons the 60-year-old spent in San Francisco, he was honored with one AP Coach of the Year award and led the team to the playoffs three times.

Donte Whitner’s bold prediction for Jim Harbaugh and his first year with the Chargers

During the recent episode of ‘Up & Adams’ show, Whitner expressed his high faith in Los Angeles’ newly-hired head coach to lead the team to the AFC Championship Game in his first year. The former NFL safety puts Harbaugh on a pedestal because he is the first to show his confidence in the veteran coach to such an extent.

Jim Harbaugh is a winner. Jim Harbaugh is going to have that team in the AFC Championship. You can rewind this on championship weekend… Jim Harbaugh is going to have the Chargers in the AFC Championship.

Donte Whitner said

With great confidence, the former 49ers star claimed the veteran head coach will lead the Chargers to the conference championship game of the playoffs, in his first year. He reasoned his argument by highlighting the coach’s ability to find out the strengths of his quarterbacks and “tailor his offense around that and the running game.” Just like how he did with J.J. McCarthy and Colin Kaepernick.
