Aaron Rodgers is still a free agent following the 2025 NFL draft and there seems to be no end in sight. While the Pittsburgh Steelers still seem very confident about their chances to sign him, the more time that passes makes things even more interesting.
Following a tough two-year stint with the New York Jets, Rodgers has been focused on his personal life this offseason. No one can fault him for that, but May has already begun and teams are looking to lock in their quarterback situations.
While there is still a decent chance Rodgers signs with the Steelers, one of his former teammates is not so sold on that idea.
In a post on X Wednesday, former NFL quarterback turned analyst Kurt Benkert revealed an ominous prediction for the 41-year-old future Hall of Famer.
"I don’t think Aaron Rodgers is going to Pittsburgh," he wrote. "If I was him, I’d wait to see what injuries happen throughout the early part of the season."

Benkert makes a point that many have considered. If Rodgers begins the season as a free agent, there is a chance that other opportunities could open up that he'd prefer more.
Pittsburgh made waves on Wednesday morning, reportedly agreeing to a trade that will send star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. That move takes away one of the elite weapons Rodgers would have had to throw to.
How that trade could impact Rodgers' decision-making remains unclear, but it's something to monitor.
Until Rodgers reveals his decision about his future, rumors and reports will continue flying. Benkert thinks he should remain patient and head into the 2025 regular season as a free agent.
