Ex-Bronco Russell Wilson Gets Bad Steelers Update

Around the NFL, there aren't many more intriguing situations than what the Pittsburgh Steelers will do at the quarterback position.

With former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, and youngster Justin Fields, the Steelers have a tough decision to make.

If they believe they could compete for a Super Bowl with Wilson under center, given he's a veteran, he might be the better option.

However, if 2024 showed anything, the Steelers offense isn't good enough to compete with some of the other top teams in the NFL.

From their perspective, Fields isn't much better. He wasn't given much of an opportunity to open up the passing game and, oftentimes, was just used as a runner for the Steelers.

Appearing in 10 games, he attempted 161 passes, throwing for 1,160 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception.

He was decent as a starter, going 4-2 in the six games he started, and completing 65.8% of his passes, but it wasn't good enough for the Steelers to give him the job full-time.

That should be good news for Wilson if he wants to return it to Pittsburgh.

However, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly believes the former Broncos quarterback will be left in the dust in Pittsburgh and the Steelers will sign Fields to an extension.

"They would know what's going on right now," explained Kaboly. "Obviously, it's Justin Fields, they're waiting for his decision. Let's put it this way: if they put an offer to Russell and an offer to Justin on the table at the same time, wouldn't you think Russell would have taken it by now?"

There's always a possibility of neither of those scenarios happening, but for now, it seems probable that one will return.

If Wilson doesn't get the nod, he'll be on his third team in as many years.
