Ex Bucs' Tom Brady Shunned By Prestigious TV Awards

Tom Brady's "backup" is embarrassingly outplaying him these days.

The NFL quarterback GOAT who won a record seven Super Bowls and led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the championship in the 2020 season had an underwhelming rookie year as FOX's No. 1 analyst. Meanwhile, the man he booted from the lead booth - Greg Olsen - has again been nominated for the most prestigious award in broadcasting ... an Emmy.

Before he spoke a word for the network, Brady was given a $375 million contract and the No. 1 job alongside play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt. Olsen was unceremoniously demoted to FOX's No. 2 team.

But then a funny thing happened. In his lame-duck season, Olsen won the Emmy for "Outstanding Event Analyst" in 2023 and has been named one of five finalists again for 2024. This year Olsen will go up against ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Troy Aikman, CBS college basketball analyst Bill Raftery, FOX baseball analyst John Smoltz and ESPN's Peyton Manning. Brady got nary a mention from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The winners will be announced May 20.

Said Olsen on his social  media, "Honored to be nominated for my 4th consecutive (Emmy). Congrats to everyone nominated. Some big time names!!”

While Olsen has remained classy about stepping aside for Brady, that response certainly feels like a veiled shot at Brady for not being included among "some big time names."

Late last season he did seem to begin to bristle a bit about FOX's decision, admitting it was "very hard" to watch Brady call all of the playoff games while he watched from his couch.

Brady has always been a quick study, but his rookie year was littered with soft opinions and awkward attempts at forced humor.
