Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence had a lot of hype coming out of college after three stellar seasons at Clemson, including a national title.
That success has not translated to the NFL, however. In his four seasons to date, Lawrence has only led the Jaguars to one postseason appearance and no more than nine wins in a season.
Former NFL executive and current ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum was on Monday's edition of "Get Up" and sent out a warning to Lawrence regarding his performance this season.
"He was coached by Doug Pederson. ... He was 60.6% in completion percentage, which was 31st in the NFL," Tannenbaum said. "He was 29th in completion above expectation. That's not good enough for somebody that's that good and Doug Pederson is a fundamental based quarterback (coach). So for me, this is about his fundamentals more than anything.
"I know he was hurt last year. I think he's got a little bit of a free pass. I know he has guaranteed money next year. ... If I'm (head coach) Liam Coen and their new general manager (James Gladstone), I'm thinking about drafting a quarterback if we don't see meaningful improvement (from Trevor Lawrence)."

Lawrence has battled through numerous injuries during his NFL career. In the last two seasons alone, he has had two concussions, two shoulder injuries, a left knee bruise and a right high ankle sprain.
He is coming off an injury-plagued 2024 season in which he only appeared in a career-low 10 games and had the worst completion percentage (60.6 percent) since his rookie season.
Healthy or not, something Lawrence must work on is his ball security. His 22 fumbles lost during the regular season since he entered the league in 2021 are the most in the NFL. It's not just the fumbles, either, considering Lawrence has accounted for 46 interceptions.
On the bright side, his preseason performance so far has been solid, despite a fumble during a handoff in Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.
The addition of Coen as the team's new head coach and the selection of Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter with the No. 2 pick in the draft will give Lawrence some new faces to work with as he tries to start putting everything together going into his fifth season.
Something that is on the side of Lawrence and the Jaguars is their favorable schedule, which is the third-easiest in the AFC. Their 26 percent odds to win the AFC South are second to the Houston Texans.
There has not been much to like up to this point, but if Lawrence can stay healthy and cut back on his turnovers, the potential is certainly there for the 2021 No. 1 overall pick.
